Daily Dose of Dawg 8/7: Let’s Give This a Shot
Ahh, training camp. Where fans can put behind the rampant speculation and innuendo of the long offseason, and trade it for more speculation and innuendo with media reports with vague quotes and depth chart rumors!
Lawd, get us to where we’re playing games.
– SI.com’s Zac Ellis ranks the Dawgs #11 in their preseason countdown. There are some interesting takes from opposing coaches, including this gem that I’m going to use to delude myself into talking myself off the Schottenheimer ledge:
Brian Schottenheimer is going to be great for them. There’s no substitute for coaching pro football and having to deal with young quarterbacks, and they have to find and develop a quarterback this season.
This is lower than most places have Georgia, especially considering Ellis references the top-20 defense, the backs, and the veteran O-line. Comically, the schedule analysis references a key stretch starting with the Tennessee game– you know, the one played AFTER Alabama.
– My personal favorite Dawg from the 2012 team, Alec Ogletree, gives a great interview about his regrets on his time at Georgia here. The rangy LB seems to be maturing into the superstar talent we all saw in bits and pieces in Athens.
– DawgSports.com previews Georgia’s opener, Louisiana-Monroe. I’ll be honest, I was a lot more nervous about this one before doing a little more research. This is a team that has made life miserable for a lot of SEC teams in recent years– namely wins over Arkansas and Alabama, and an OT loss to Auburn.
Preaching to the choir, Bill. (Note: if you’re not looking to ruin your Friday with painful memories of inexplicable losses, don’t click that link.)
