Malcolm Mitchell Set to Return

For the first time since August 31, 2013 (last year’s Clemson game), Malcolm Mitchell is all set to play for the Bulldogs. Mitchell missed all of last year with an ACL injury and the first few weeks of this year after tweaking something else in his leg. This news is huge for the Bulldogs, and could dramatically change what this offense looks like moving forward. Obvious to anyone that’s watched Georgia this year, is the Bulldogs inability to throw the ball. The first game, it seemed like it was just a matter of not needing to pass, but now, four games in, it’s clear that this is the offense’s main weakness. Mitchell will finally add a deep threat that defenses will have to respect and will give Hutson Mason someone else that he’s very comfortable throwing it to.

Some other big news is that Justin Scott-Wesley will be returning this week after serving a four game suspension for a marijuana arrest. Like Malcolm, Justin has the ability to stretch the field and outrun most defenders.

Richt Optimistic About Georgia’s Passing Game

Although many in the Bulldawg Nation have given up on Hutson Mason, Mark Richt still thinks things will get turned around. I’m not quite as confident as Richt, but I’m willing to give Hutson the benefit of the doubt for one more week. The excuse given for Mason so far this year is that he hasn’t had all of his receivers out there. Now, he finally gets them back and has a chance to show us what he can do against one of the worst teams in college football. If he’s not able to, then next week I’ll tell you how I really feel about Georgia’s passing situation.
