Michael Barnett (6-5/258 DE) -☆☆☆☆

247 Sports– #269 Overall; #11 SDE; #4 in S.C.

Georgia’s 2015 class, dubbed “Fam 15”, is quickly becoming “Flip 15”. The Bulldogs have flipped their 4th player so far in this class as they landed Michael Barnett this morning. Barnett, a 4-star defensive end out of Dorchester, South Carolina, called the Florida State coaches last night to let them know that he’d be flipping his commitments to the Red & Black. For Georgia, this is their 22nd commitment and 7th on the defensive line. The Bulldogs moved up to #2 in the class rankings on 247 Sports, trailing only Alabama, after this pickup.

Barnett is a huge get for the Dawgs because he adds even more depth to this talented group. At 6-5, 258 lbs., Barnett is a nightmare to defend, and is surprisingly fast for a guy his size. I look for him to push for playing time as soon as he gets to Athens in January.

Some of Barnett’s junior highlights here:

According to some recruiting services, this may not be the last pickup for Georgia this weekend, so stay tuned. There’s a chance they could have a couple more guys by Monday.

Montavious Atkinson (ILB) – ☆☆☆☆

Montavious Atkinson, a talented 4-star linebacker out of Fairburn, Georgia, is getting A LOT of attention from the UGA coaching staff, and for good reason. Atkinson would be a perfect fit for Jeremy Pruitt’s defense, and it sounds like they might have a chance at flipping him. Montavious says that one of the big factors in his decision is whether or not he’ll be able to play early. Pruitt has been promising him that if he comes to Georgia, he’ll be able to play safety right away. Atkinson knows that Georgia doesn’t have a ton of depth there, and that seems to be enticing him. He’s also noticed that Georgia isn’t at all scared to play freshmen. Another thing drawing Montavious to UGA is that he grew up watching Georgia games and that his family is nuts about Georgia. I’m not calling Atkinson a lock for Georgia at this point, but he will certainly be one to keep your eye on.
