Georgia Football: The Bad News About the Dawgs’ Off Week
As I wrote here, not every facet of the Bulldogs’ off week was a benefit. Sure, Georgia had extra time to fix some kinks and focus on South Carolina. But, they also had extra time to think about their lofty rating.
That’s not necessarily a good thing for a team that was defined by questions—not bold statements—heading into Week 1.
I’m not trying to be Debbie Downer here, but I guess I kind of am.
In some respects, I wish Georgia had played somebody—anybody, really—last weekend to keep the focus between the lines. I don’t doubt Richt, Pruitt and Bobo’s ability to command attentive preparation, but it was hard to watch football on Saturday and not here Georgia referenced. I’m sure the players heard that as well.
The opposite may also come into play for South Carolina, a team that’s been all but dismissed after two short (or maybe long for Spurrier) weeks.
